Ios Web App Link Opens Safari

If standalone in window navigator window navigator standalone.
Ios web app link opens safari. I thought this was just an irritating fact of life. Also ios is not taking the icons from the web app manifest but from the apple touch icon link. You do this by clicking on the link that appears in the top right corner of the screen when ios has opened an app with a universal link.
You can not stop this behaviour. Safari won t open the app if it s not installed. Apple does not want to add settings for this anyway.
When your web application is being viewed in standalone mode anchor tags ie. Long press on a link. Links open up in the mobile safari browser which jumps you out of your standalone application.
It is default and permanent. In ios 9 i ve had success doing a long tap on the link and selecting open from the pop up menu. Tap open to open the link in safari in the current tab or open in new tab to open the link in safari in a background tab.
That opens a link and keeps it in safari rather than jumping into an app recently tested with an imdb link from google search results. Addeventlistener click event. There was a way to do this and it is only possible with ios 10.
From that point on ios will ignore the universal link feature for that site. A preview of the web page will appear. But there s an easy solutionfor dealing with this one and here comes the magic.
